Now to the movie...it was so emotional but so good (except in chinese the canadian husband part was awful and almost ruined it lol). I am happy that I was able to see it after spending time in China. It was so moving. I want to see it again badly. The film thankfully had english subtitles, but walking home afterward, I decided that watching more movies in chinese would help me learn chinese. So, I strolled into a movie store and bought a few movies. Im such a dork...i bought Mulan, Seven Samurai, and A Streetcar Named Desire?
Hahaha, I dont know why the Marlon Brando pick but I was clearly in a real sappy mood...only to later discover that its Chinese Love Day today. Like Valentines Day only sincere. No wonder I kept seeing couples and flowers and love in the air...I was really starting to think that Chinese couples were just really sweet. First, couples here often sport matching t shirts. Next, the music here is full of romance. Liang gifted Colleen and I cds that have popular Chinese love songs on them and I recalled backstreet boys listening to it. But im not too cool for it at all...i think its sweet because they arent being dirty or sarcastic...its cute.
Liang and his friend Nio gu also took me out to dinner. We were talking about basketball of course and I mentioned that my family has a dog named Kobe. Liang's grandmother also has a dog named Kobe! It was cool. Liang also happened to be wearing his Celtics shirt (the same one he wore to a kobe bryant event and had his picture taken with kobe in!! and that pic was posted on a website! hahaha!) ok ok ok, so we ate and chatted and then being the gents they are they got me a cab home. Good food and good company. I was happy.
Then, I step out of the cab and start walking onto campus and next thing I know my Turkish acquaintance, Ruslan, is behind me on his moped as usual. Does he drive around campus waiting for me to need a ride or what?? weird. Today was ALL over the place. I think I'll go to bed now.
