"hao jiu bu jian, ni hi hai ma? ni de xiao gou zheng da le ma..."
"its been awhile, how are you? your little dog has grown up..."
I feel these song lyrics. I know a lot has probably already changed back home. I know I too have changed ;)
Last Thursday I took the bus up to Beijing to visit my friends and celebrate 2 of their birthdays with them. I realized then that although I do not speak very good Chinese yet, I enjoy spending time with these people so very much. I do not know how to explain how carefree I feel when I am with them. I didn't see a mirror for 5 days and I was fine with it. Haha, "friends are your mirror!" Hanging out in China has also made me very aware of my body. Like I have mentioned many times, there is no schedule. So, you eat when you are hungry and you sleep until your body feels rested. You take an hour to get where you are going because you aren't in a rush. I dig it.
While in Beijing I also heard a little more about the history of China. There are 4 classic novels of China. Two of which I ordered in English at the bookstore today. I'm enamored with these stories. Tales of kingdoms, strong camraderie, clever immortal monkeys...ADVENTURE...very cool stuff. I feel that reading these novels will also give me a better understanding of China and all of her history.
The 12 hour overnight bus was actually sooo worth it. I already can't wait to take my holiday in Beijing. I hope to be posting more on her soon, I never shared the great wall and tianamen square, forbidden city photos. Ahhh, Beijing... :) Also there is a city near Linyi called Qingdao thats next to the sea. I hope to go there before the weather gets too cold!
Ok TEACHING! I started this week and so far it has been really great. I love my students already. Most of them are very eager to learn English and although they are Freshmen in college, they are so sweet and innocent. I feel confident that I will become a good teacher. Thank you Jenny for all of the ESL resources!!
