Today during class I had my students do an activity for fun. It has been a struggle to get them to speak, haha. They are very shy. So, I brought in my hai bo to play a game...
i wanted them to practice asking questions. So, I threw hai bo into the desks for someone to catch. That person had to answer the question and then ask a question before throwing hai bo. It was sort of a random way to get the class to talk. And they thought it was really funny! Also, it allowed me to see what they were interested in talking about. Of course they ended up asking questions like...what type of boy do you look for? (a boy like my father was the answer) And then there were other questions like..how strong of glasses do you wear? HAHA
Ahhh, and then at the end of class my students told me that I was like a child. Ha, I think I understand what they meant...and I don't know that I can help it. I hope I can grow into a teaching style that is both me and effective for my students.
