The American city in China. I loved it! It was sort of nostalgic though because I felt like I might be back in the states. There were so many foreigners and everything was more expensive than Beijing. The world expo was amazing though. The pavilions were an engineers dream come true. I can't even describe how big and fabulous everything was. I feel like I experienced a piece of history. The China pavilion was my favorite. Clever, bold, and magical.
Colleen's family friends were so precious. I wouldn't have been able to do anything let alone get to Shanghai if it weren't for them. And her uncle is a reporter so we even got special passes.
And Xiao Bao, their daughter, was a riot. She had this obsession with the expo mascot, Hai bo. You know the dorky blue sea baby thing you see everywhere…she wanted to touch everyone she saw lol.
Also they gave me a Chinese name! Its Wei Jie Lin. Jie Lin is my first name and Wei is my last. It was really cool because it matches my real initials and they didn't even know that when they named me. Also Jie Lin means clean jade. I like that. Apparently its also a unique name in China. Sweet!
One of the days in Shanghai Colleen and I met up with her friend Max from Georgetown who grew up in Shanghai. He showed us around and took us to the Bund to take pictures…
she so cute! and yes starbucks are on every corner.
Later that night we met up with another one of Collen's friends and Max took us to a really swanky bar at the top of this hotel.
Then we went back to the Bund for a nightview. I was pretty much enchanted...
